We believe that every individual, regardless of race, class, sexual orientation, gender identity, or political affiliation, is a beloved child of God and of sacred worth to our Creator. Our church is proud to be a member of the Reconciling Ministries Network of The United Methodist Church, promoting inclusivity and fostering dialogue on topics like homosexuality and diversity. We host studies, speakers, and events to encourage conversation, learning, welcoming, and growth.

Our Mission Statement
Our mission is to unite our hearts, hopes, and talents as Christian disciples called together by God for the benefit of all God’s creation. Guided by the Spirit of Christ, we express our faith through Spirit-filled worship, service, and hospitality.
What We Believe
The United Methodist Church, with its 11 million members worldwide, seeks to open hearts, minds, and doors through active engagement with our world. Our faith tradition, rooted in the teachings of John Wesley, places a primary emphasis on Christian living, putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on “practical divinity” continues to be a hallmark of United Methodism today.
We are committed to fulfilling the mission of the United Methodist Church, which is “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” At PSUMC, we believe in accomplishing this mission through the ministries of witness, nurture, and outreach. We strive to be invitational, hospitable, accepting, and inclusive, caring for and nurturing all people. Our dedication extends to enabling individuals to grow in their experience and understanding of God and what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. We are also actively engaged in mission, both locally and globally, as we respond to the needs beyond our church’s doors.
We take our “theological task” seriously, continuously reflecting on our faith through the lenses of scripture, tradition, experience, and reason. This reflection helps us interpret the Bible for our contemporary context and provides guidance for addressing moral questions and dilemmas in our daily lives.
Theological Diversity
Pleasant Street United Methodist Church is a place where theological diversity is celebrated. Our congregation comprises members with a wide range of viewpoints, from conservative to theologically progressive. We believe in respecting one another and are deeply committed to living and growing together in Christian love. Our diversity of thought enriches our faith community and encourages meaningful dialogue and understanding.
